A new season demands a new make-up menu: a lighter and fresher one with a glowy finish that makes you look as if you’ve been cocooning all winter long – I wish that were true. I’ve spent part of my Easter Sunday spring cleaning my
make-up MUJI drawers and I got inspired to create a simple, everyday spring look featuring my brand-new Ellis Faas Skin Veil foundation. Honestly I was just too eager to try this baby out … How exciting new make-up bits may be, there’s also something about shopping your own stash: dusting off a few buried gems sparks quite some excitement.
A GLOWY & FLAWLESS BASE
Starting off with a new and rather pleasing acquisition: Ellis Faas Skin Veil Foundation (S104). A light to medium foundation that imparts a proper glow onto the skin leaving out that awful greasy look. It was love upon first application and I can already imagine it shuffling its way to the front row in no time. To erase dark circles and to illuminate my under-eye area at the same time, I’m still relying on Charlotte Tilbury The Retoucher (02). Another recent purchase is the Make Up For Ever Full Coverage Concealer (06) which does a remarkable job at vanishing evidence of spots and scars into thin air. It gives my previous concealers a run for their money, it’s that impressive. I’ve now achieved a flawless yet a rather lifeless canvas. That’s why I added a pop of colour on the cheeks with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Diffused Heat (review: here) and Tom Ford Bronzing Powder Terra to bronze up my complexion. To groom my brows I’ve been obsessed with Burberry Brow Definer (Ash Brown) to create natural, defined brows.
NATURAL YET DEFINED EYES
I’ve left my bronze eyeshadows aside, shock horror, and opted for something much lighter with Nars And God Created the Woman Palette (review: here) from which I’ve used Alhambra (bottom left) all over the lid and Kalahari (top middle) in the outer corner of my lids and under the lash line. Next, I’ve used Charlotte Tilbury Rock’N’Kohl Marlene Midnight to tightline my upper waterline that transforms into a small flick at the end. Marlene Midnight is a gorgeous dark navy blue, which provides a subtle yet gorgeous pop of colour that doesn’t translate at all on picture – sadly. Of course I’ve used my trusty mascara duo on my lashes: Dior Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum (review: here) together with Chanel Le Volume (review: here). Not a day goes by without highlighting my inner corners and TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer is the perfect contender for that.
A COMFY LIP
To tie the whole look together I’ve picked a MLBB shade in a luxurious balmy formula: Dior Rouge Baume Lili (558). It’s not by far a long-wearing formula but at least one that’s fuss-free and extremely comfortable to wear, not having to worry about smudging it whatsoever.
I’m ready to set off into a season where nature is in full bloom, the birds are chirping and the sun is shining 24/7. Could the latter be a thing? With a bright, dewy and healthy complexion I’m impatiently waiting for spring to arrive. Sun, come out and play, please?
