So far we have been spoilt with copious amounts of sunshine unlike any other year in my entire life — as far as I can remember at least. During winter I content myself by getting SPF out of my make-up, but not when the sun is making back its appearance, not that it has ever been away but you get the deal … Sun exposure has to be the biggest culprit of ageing skin. It’s inevitable that we are exposed to the sun every bloomin’ day, so SPF is imperative in order to protect our skin.
I steered clear of SPF50s as they tend to be quiet heavy on the skin, until I came across the Kiehl’s Daily UV Defense SPF50+++. Finally a sunscreen I actually enjoy using. Despite the fact that the packaging only mentions UVA protection, I can safely confirm that it also protects our skin against UVB-rays. An SPF50 that actually feels light on the skin as it’s very lightweight and therefore really easy to blend, sinking beautifully into the skin. It does not leave a horrifying white-cast onto your face, which is rather an exception. It does not feel sticky nor does it make you look greasy, which makes it a perfect primer under your foundation, and it will not interfere with your foundation (application) in any way.

It contains ingredients such as Mexoryl SX, patented by mother company L’Oreal and highly anticipated, a ground-breaking technology that protects us against sun damage (UVB) and premature wrinkles (UVA). Octocrylene is a premium UVB protection and appears to be water-resistant, and Parsol 1789 offers broad-range UVA protection and helps to protect the skin against the harmful effects of sun exposure which can cause premature skin ageing.
I’m one of those that takes sunscreens very serious. Sunscreen is crucial in terms of protecting our skin and diminishing any possible damage. You don’t want to regret to have been too lazy to slather on sunscreen, do you?
