Now that we are all settled into Autumn it is high time to update your make-up bag. For me Autumn is all about defining your eyes with rusty shades and probably the most exciting bit: a bold lip. This year I am particularly excited about dark reddish and plummy shades. But I have not done my shopping just yet, be amazed.
Let’s get down to today’s make-up look. It’s all about achieving pretty flawless skin, rusty eyes and a bold red lip.
Creating a flawless base:
Bourjois Happy Light Foundation in 53 Beige Gold: A fairly new purchase but loving it ever since! As my skin has been behaving pretty good lately I definitely don’t need much. This foundation has been the perfect pick as it has a light to medium coverage. I applied just a tiny bit with my beloved buffing brush from Real Techniques to even out my skin tone. In terms of finish it is not too luminous nor too matte, just a perfect in between.
Becca Shimmering Perfector in Opal: On a day-to-day basis I won’t be bothered to put this on but today I seemed to be craving for a little more luminosity. A little dab on the cheeks, bridge of the nose, inner corners, under the arch of the eyebrows and –done! It brings the perfect amount of luminosity to the face without looking shimmery at all.
Nars Brightening Concealer in Honey: When it comes down to concealers I am extremely picky. I want something that covers my dark circles and brightens my under-eye area. This one just thicks all the boxes. It has a creamy texture which is absolutely lovely and rather unique.
Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder: This sculpts your face like a dream. It has the perfect shade – not too reddish nor too muddy- to create a natural shadow. My jaws dropped down to the floor the first time I used this!
Kevyn Aucoin Cream Blush in Tansoleil: I wanted to go for something natural as I was already going for dark defined eyes. Tansoleil is a gorgeous peachy shade that gives me a beautiful healthy glow.
Anastasia Brow Wiz in Ash Medium: I adore this eyebrow pencil because of the ultra-fine tip which gives me gorgeous defined eyebrows without looking drawn on. Love.
The rusty eyes:
Guerlain Eyeshadow Primer: I never ever use eye primers. Why? I never really had the need to use one so I never did. I can’t really say a lot about this primer because I borrowed it from my lovely mom. My first impressions? Not necessarily blown away.
Estée Lauder Pure Cosmic in Cosmic: Let’s take a minute to worship this shade, what a stunner. A perfect rusty-coppery brown with pink and bronze sparkles running through. In terms of application it’s a though one: I applied this cream eyeshadow with my fingers but I could not manage to apply it evenly. That’s where the Guerlain Ombre Eclat Eye Primer comes in. The cream eyeshadow now applies perfectly without any complication. I did not experience any sparkle fall-out nor creasing. The application is a bit of a disappointment but the colour just makes me so happy that for once I don’t really mind.
L’Oreal Colour Infaillible in Endless Chocolate: I have applied this colour in the outer corners of my eyes and just a tiny bit in the crease –very lightly.
Dior Eyeliner Waterproof in Brown: My black eyeliners have recently all been replaced by brown ones. They give you a more softer look whereas black eyeliner may look a bit harsh. I applied this in the root of my upper lash line and equally on the lower lash line to define my eyes a bit more.
Burberry Velvet Lip in 16 Claret: An absolute winner during the colder months. This particular shade is a somewhat deeper red compared to the classic red shade. It’s absolutely not too shiny and has a lovely staying power. After a few hours of wear it will leave a beautiful stain behind. If matte lipsticks are often too dry for you, you definitely need to try out this range. You will love it!
This make-up look is appropriate for a day out with friends or a candle light dinner with your beloved one … Loads of occasions to choose from. Which make-up trends are you most excited about this season?
