Nail art requires patience, confidence, and endurance — all of which I lack. Needless to say that I admire deeply those that create works of nail art. However, you will rarely spot me without any nail varnish on my fingertips. I adore simple, plain shades leaving all special finishes aside, this even includes metallic ones which I’m not too fond of. A tiny bit of sparkle is the best I can handle, I must be sounding so boring.
I do love the occasional accent nail — sometimes much more often than I make myself believe. This trend has been going on for a while now and I’m sticking to it. The fact you only need to focus on one nail on each hand as well as keeping damage on my right hand to a bare minimum is the least I can handle. We all have that one hand that lacks steadiness and finesse to the extreme, right? Except for those that are perfectly left and right handed, must be such a gift for doing your nails – jealous!
I don’t even bother watching fancy – even easy – nail tutorials. However, a video recently popped up in my Youtube subscription box with an alluring thumbnail with the words ‘Anyone Can Do This’ included in the title, I succumbed. You must’ve already guessed that I gave it a try and dare I say it turned out pretty well. I call it the Fishtail Manicure which may very well be its official name — told you I’m a noob. I’ve used Essie Mint Candy Apple, Essie Marshmallow, and MaxFactor Ivory to achieve this look.
Enough about the accent nails, I still had eight fingertips to take care of! I decided to go with Reverse Moon-shaped nails – is that how they’re called? – which was pretty easy to achieve. Using a brush with the perfect width ensures an effortless creation. I love the way the white and green pulls the whole look together. Don’t hesitate to try this at home ’cause if I can pull this off, you will too – no doubt about it!
What do think of the Fishtail Manicure?
Can someone recommend me a more opaque white?
