Spotlight: Worth the Extra Step

I’m new at indulging myself with a mascara primer and more specifically with the Dior Diorshow Maximiser Lash Plumping Serum. Obviously it’s an extra step to add to the routine so is it worth the effort? It’s a pre-mascara step that looks white but turns transparant when dry. It can also be used as an overnight treatment to condition your lashes.

This primer is by all means a game-changer. It seems to deal with all my mascara woes with one slick of white painting. One coat suffices to provide significant length, volume and does this without weighing down your lashes. One layer is enough to achieve a day-appropriate lash look that doesn’t turn clumpy or crispy. The result is just mind-blowing because one coat of this underneath your regular mascara equals to at least 3 to 4 coats of regular mascara only. And then I haven’t told you the best part just yet: it keeps mascara smudges down to zero. How? I reckon it’s a secret that only Dior beholds.

I can confirm it’s definitely worth the extra step in your daily routine, even in the earliest mornings. Mascara should be an eye-opener without making you look like a panda at the end of a rough day. Up until now this was a statement that didn’t really match my reality. Sunny from MostlySunny managed to convince me to buy this game-changer and girl, I owe you one. My lashes have not looked this good with such minimal effort – I sense a runner-up for a place on the list of holy grails …

P.S. I didn’t like this as an overnight treatment at all. My eyes felt horrible the first instance I opened my eyes the next morning. Basically, it felt like waking up with coats of mascara from the day before – which I haven’t had to deal with for many years now and I like to keep it this way. If you don’t mind the feeling, by all means incorporate it in your night time routine and I hope it conditions lashes as promised.

Ahahaha told ya it’s GREAT! I keep thinking I might want to try different mascara primers because you know, I’m a blogger and it’d be good to have something new to blog about. However, each time I end up in the store for a primer, I just ask for this one because it’s SO, SO good. It’s hard to imagine anything better :)

    • Alice Yeh (叶翠云)

Oh. My. Sunny, I can’t imagine myself without this primer anymore. I’m hooked! Haha, I can already imagine myself having the exact same problem when I run out if, haha. Thanks for introducing me to this beauty! ;) X

this sounds amazing. i’ve tried the Lancome version and just reviewed Estee Lauders. what blows me away about this is that one coat = 3-4 mascara coats??? for these thin sparsh lashes that would be mega insta-volume. very very intrigued.

    • Alice Yeh (叶翠云)

Oh, what does the Lancome one say? I haven’t tried Estee Lauders but reading many reviews I can only deduce that it’s not comparable to this one from Dior – not saying it is necessarily bad but I reckon they just do different things. And yes, it totally gives you va va voom lashes in a heart beat! And if you do the maths, it makes your regular mascara last longer … It’s definitely worth the investment! Let me know when your try it. I’m now off reading your Estee Lauder review, lol. X

I also use it with Chanel Le Volume and I couldn’t agree more, it’s great!

    • Alice Yeh (叶翠云)

No way, the exact same combination? What a coincidence! X

  • Kiss & Make-up
