It’s no secret I have a major crush on Charlotte Tilbury and it was only a matter of time for me to expand my already existing collection. Being a true matte gal at heart, I purchased her Matte Revolution lipsticks in the shades Red Carpet Red, Lost Cherry and Amazing Grace. Considering the fact I bought them all online based on online swatches – I either did a remarkable job or Charlotte just knows how to create perfect shades – because I’m darn chuffed with my picks. I could’ve added Love Liberty to the stash though …
Charlotte really knows how to please because she once again managed to combine looks, formula and shades in the best possible way. Her lipsticks are almost too pretty to use being so gorgeous from inside and out. The bullet has the sexiest silhouette I’ve ever seen. The shape is breathtakingly beautiful – and yes, we’re still talking lipsticks – the structure, the lines, who would’ve thought that a lipstick could be so seductive? The square angled tip makes application straight from the bullet an actual easy job, where bold shades are no exception to the rule. It’s so well made it omits the need of extra tools, although a mirror would be much appreciated.
Charlotte calls these her matte meets moisturising lipstick range – which by the way sound so so appealing. Whilst I wouldn’t necessarily call these moisturising, they do guarantee a comfortable wear thanks to its lightweight formula and the fact it doesn’t feel like it’s absorbing all the moisture out of your lips. It glides smoothly over the lips without the need of awful dragging or pulling. Pigmentation is equally amazing being opaque in one pass only. It remains there where it should and doesn’t budge or smudge for a good couple of hours, and when it does fade it does so evenly with leaving a beautiful stain behind. I do admit that perfect conditioned lips are very well-advised because they do tend to accentuate fines lines.
I picked up Amazing Grace, a beautiful dusty rose that would suit about about everyone: a demure pinky nude. Next in line is Lost Cherry which I’d describe as a cherry coral. It’s my least worn shade but I’m waiting for spring to whip this out. And finally Red Carpet Red, the kind of red celebreties would rock on the red carpet, I like to call this Hollywood in a tube.
Whilst they are not the longest-lasting out of the bunch, they do feel extremely comfortable on the lips. And since they fade evenly on the lips I don’t mind the lack of lasting power. So matte lip lovers, you know what’s left to do …
